What we collect, and what we never see

The checker

• What you paste or answer is processed by code running in your browser. It is not transmitted to us or to anyone else.
• If what you paste looks like it contains a card number, a Social Security number, or a password, the page says so and suggests you delete it. That check also runs in your browser. Please leave those details out anyway: the checker never needs them.
• It is not stored: not in cookies, not in local storage, not in the page address. Closing the tab or pressing "Clear my check" removes it.
• No AI service, link reputation service, or session recording tool is involved.

Ordinary web server logs

Like any website, the hosting provider records requests for pages: IP address, time, page requested, and browser type. Those requests never contain checker input, because the input is never sent. The site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps those logs under its own policy. We do not add any logging of our own.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count page views and a few named events, such as "checker_completed" or "guide_downloaded". It never receives what you paste into the checker, any link or number you check, which rules matched, or anything you type into a form. We have turned off Google's advertising features for this site, and the pages where kit buyers download their files carry no analytics at all. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. Most ad and tracker blockers stop it, and the site works the same with it blocked.

Fonts

Fonts are served from this site. No request goes to a font company.

Community reports (optional)

• We receive: channel, pattern, your description, state if given, email if given, and your consent to publish a redacted summary.
• To limit spam we keep a salted, one-way hash of the submitting IP address for 24 hours.
• Only editors can read the original. It is deleted 90 days after review. A published summary contains none of your contact details.

Contact form (optional)

If you write to us, the form sends your message, your email address, and your name if you give one to Netlify Forms, our host's form service, which stores it and notifies us. We use it only to reply and delete messages we no longer need. Please leave out passwords, codes, and account numbers.

Purchases (optional)

If you buy a kit, payment happens on build.sideroad.co, the Sideroad store, and is processed by beehiiv and Stripe under their own privacy policies. We receive your email address, what you bought, and the amount, so we can deliver the download and handle refunds. We never receive your card number. Buying a kit does not add you to the newsletter.

Newsletter (optional)

We store your email address and a record of your consent. You are subscribed only after clicking the link in a confirmation email, and every issue has a one-click unsubscribe. The newsletter is sent through beehiiv, which stores the address on our behalf.

Your choices

Ask us to delete a report or newsletter record at any time through the contact page. We do not sell or share personal information.
